The Gamer Lounge

As you may have noticed, I’ve been missing in action for more than a month now.  Believe it or not, I actually have a fairly good reason.  College started which took up a lot of time, and there was a death in the family.  Luckily it wasn’t close family, but it still isn’t exactly a joyous occasion.  The funeral is tomorrow, actually.

There hasn’t been a new episode of The Gamer Lounge, Luke’s Ramblings or even a new blog post!  That’s all going to change starting tomorrow.  Quite a bit has happened both movie and gaming wise, and I’m going to share that with you!  There will be a new blog post for sure tomorrow, and new podcast episode sometime this week.  It’s good to be back!

Howdy all, I’m just chiming in to let you know that I’ll be heading out of state for awhile for a nice little family vacation.  I do still plan to put up a few blog posts, and we do still plan on getting a new episode out this Sunday.  However, please forgive my lower sound quality this week, because I’m not taking such a fragile mixer and microphone with me!  I’ll most likely just be recording with the MacBook’s built in Mic, and Larry will be doing the recording this time.

Welcome to the new Gamer Lounge Podcast blog!  After purchasing all the new hardware, I figured it’s probably time to get a new website as well.  First off, the domain is a lot easier to remember (and say), and secondly, hosting the blog on my own web server lets me customize a lot more stuff!

I actually even have show notes written up this time around. There WILL be a podcast episode recorded tomorrow, even if I have to put out a solo show. (Unless something comes up which, like, always happens)

I also made a few sketches for the webcomic. I’m actually planning on continuing that, but I’m going to move it to a black and white form to save time. If it becomes popular, than I’ll switch back to color.

Something sucky is in the air. What is it you ask? That awful odor is coming from Mypodcast, which is the place I host Casual WoW.

After setting up my gear, I decided to record, if I do say so myself, a dang good episode on my experience with a Death Knight. I export it as an .mp3 and am all ready to share it with you guys as it begins uploading. Then I’m hit with the double whammy.

The audio file won’t upload. Strange, I thought. I tried exporting it a different way and tried uploading it 4 more times with still no luck. Even stranger, I thought. So then I checked out the forums to see what was up, only to find that no podcasters can upload any episode at all. That sucks you piece of crap Mypodcast, I then thought.

So, basically, what this means is that Casual WoW could very well be closed for good. Or at least on that RSS feed. I’m going to send out some emails today and see if I can’t start a new feed somewhere else. There’s always a chance that their uploader will start working again, but, based on past experiences, I highly doubt it.

Just last night the entire podcasting upgrade arrived! Unfortunately, I’ve been so sick lately that I haven’t been able to set it up or take pictures yet. . Hopefully by tomorrow I’ll be ready to go!

That huge podcast upgrade I mentioned?  I just bought it.  According to the shipping info, it should arrive in 2-5 days, so I’ll post pictures when it arrives!

Well folks, it’s been a few months now since there has been a GL episode, and even more since I’ve has a CW. Well, you know what? After having two entire new show recordings get ruined, I am finally, at last, seriously this time, going to go with a mixer to end this crap. Oxygen sealed cables, extra channels, a nice new mic…doesn’t it sound great?

What does this mean for you? Better sound quality, more sound effects in the show, much faster editing times which will allow you to get your show at least a day early, not to mention all co-hosts will sound great.

I hope to make the big purchase this weekend and will take plenty of pictures when it arrives.
