Now that its been out for a few years, you’d figure I, a gaming blogger, would have had the chance to try out a Playstation 3 long ago. Well, actually, yesterday was my first experience with one. Does it beat the Xbox 360? Read on after the break to find out.
Nope, you’re not dreaming. Microsoft is currently offering a “limited time offer” of one month of Xbox LIVE Gold for $1. Of course you can only buy one month, but it’s still a pretty great deal. One month would give you plenty of time to pick up some online achievements in Gears of War, Burnout Paradise, and a bajillion other games. What are ya waiting for?
I’ve often thought about ploppin’ down a big sum of cash to build myself a new gaming rig, and each time I do, the game I want to play is Crysis. Luckily for my wallet, it is now going to make an appearance on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 with Crysis 2. However, there is a reason a great gaming computer costs so much these days: it can do some incredible things. In the above video, you can see a comparison of the CryEngine 3 on a PC, and then on a console. It’s obvious that the PC has a leg up here, but is there enough difference there to justify spending around $1000 more than you would on a console?
Wow, I’ve seen some interesting 360 case mods, but this one made by Frank Gonzales really takes the cake. If one guy can make stuff like this, why can’t Microsoft give us some crazy options to customize our own cases? Faceplates? Not cool. This? Hell, yes.
Has Nintendo gone crazy? With their new “Demo Play” it sure seems like they may have. Check out the podcast to learn more!
Some topics this episode are WWDC, The Hangover, Iron Man 2 Villain, Futurama Returning, Warhammer Online Sucks, Half Life Episode 2, MK vs. DCU, Natal as new console, Metal Gear Arcade, Demo Play, PSP Go, Sims 3 big sales, Norton Gaming Edition, Paper TF2, Metal Gear Solid Rising.
Want to see the best gun in the game? Then click the above picture to make it bigger! So after slowly making progress through the game since Christmas, I finally beat the game. Since I picked up Orange Box, Episode 1 and 2 are soon to follow on the game beatin’ schedule. After playing through this game, I really must say it easily lives up to all the high ratings it received. Even today after playing beautiful games like Gears of War, this game still looks and plays great on any decent PC out there.
Let’s take a look back, shall we? This game was officially released on November 16, 2004. (Almost four years ago already!) Then the Xbox 360 came out in 2005 around the same time Half-Life 2 did. The important difference? HL2 was out on the PC looking great a whole year before the 360 came out. While I do own a Xbox 360, it’s always good to look back sometimes and see how much better the PC was and always will be. If you can afford the upgrades that is…
So I’ve got to admit, this looks cool. But one question, what the crap is the difference between this and Guitar Hero World Tour? (Yes I realize it has song creation. But with no vocals who cares?) Maybe if they worked together on one game rather than making two clones this would be even cooler than it already is. While the price tag is looking to be something like $180, with wireless drums it actually looks worth it this time around. So…uhh…for the one guy in the world that hasn’t played Rock Band, is there a solo campaign for the drums?
A Cheaper 360!
Yep, this is true. Saw it in the Best Buy ad today. You can now get the 20gb 360 for only $300. But seriously, has anyone not boughten one yet?
Portal 2
LINK. Awesome! While I can’t say this is my favorite game, I did enjoy playing the game quite a bit. It’s nice to see game developers take some risks and come out with something cool!
